Frequently Asked Questions

Under ‘A Few Words About Us’, we list some of the many benefits of using Native Plants in the landscape.  We also integrate more exotic Ornamental plants so we don’t use Natives exclusively.  Our attempt is to make a viable difference by using mainly Natives that don’t require chemicals found in herbicides and pesticides, require less watering, and are locally sourced.  Natives contribute to the health and well-being of the planet by encouraging Biodiversity, the great indicator of our inter-relatedness with all living things. T I L is adept at translating the needs and wishes of a homeowner into a design that is ecologically sound while creating a beautiful exterior extension of your home – one that you can feel good about in making a difference.
Cost completely depend on the Scope of the work.  For example, we have provided Consultations that cost $75. Generally speaking, maintenance (pruning) and clean-up cost $50 per hour.  We’ve installed comprehensive projects by the way of Master Plans where the existing landscape (hardscaping included) was removed and replaced by the installation of the Master Plan that could cost $25,000. The variations are big.  It simply depends on what the project entails.  We provide Free Estimates with detail of the work.
According to statistics, the actual benefits of landscaping are pretty immediate.  Home value increases by 15%.  Curb appeal is obviously the first impression of prospective home buyers.  Landscapes and gardens that work in harmony with the architectural design and elements of a property are a real plus because they are so immediately visual.
T I L is committed to purchasing locally grown plants. T.I.L. works closely with a Native Plant grower, Go Native! Perennials, located in Skaneateles. The provenance (origin or sourcing) of all plants is essential for many reasons and ensuring hardiness and adaptability. It also means that we avoid the trucking transport from out-of-state growers thus saving fossil fuels.

T I L provides a one-year guarantee on all woody plants. Normally that is all that is required for survivability.
